3 and 4 star hotel mixed together - kinda weird

I sorta had to love this place. the location is amazing, but the 3 and 4 star weirdness is a bit off-putting. My flight from JFK landed at 5:30 AM and I arrived at 630 AM. The doors were shut tight and the only entrance method was via a key card. I sat on the sidewalk in the rain with my giant suitcase and waited for someone to exit. After that, only the 3 star reception desk (the Rembrandt Square Hotel) was open. The Eden Hotel is attached but they don't have 24 hour reception desk -- beyond bizarre. The Ironing Room - epic! During IBC (a major trade show with 90,000 extra people) they should open the entire hotel -- no room for me until Noon, due to housekeeping not being able to clean until a certain time...but still the 4 stars were as follows: this hotel stepped up quickly - the restaurant attached (FLO) is amazing and the breakfast -- included in the room rate -- is freaking amazing with raspberries and cucumbers and the freshest croissants this side of Paris, I was in love! Location - stellar! The best part of all - good service and when I called with "emergency" my hair dryer isn't working -- a chap with a brand new hair dryer arrived within 5 mins. LOVE this place! My suggestion is kill the 3 star side -- add a gym and a few more amenities and this place would compete with Radisson Blu.

Really noisy...

This is about the Rembrandt Square Hotel on Amstelstraat 17, not the similar name on Rembrandtplein 24. This was the noisiest room I have ever tried to sleep in. Rowdy and drunk locals fought and yelled along the street until 3am - 4am every night for the three nights we were there, and it was mid-week. There was no chance of sleeping without earplugs and even then the voices carried through. The hotel said they were full and couldn't move us. The room was clean enough, but very basic. The staff varied from indifferent to helpful, depending on who you got at reception. There is a 4-star rating on their door, but it really would barely get 3-stars in most cities.

Lovely suite and restaurant staff

We stayed in the suite (622) for one night and had a wonderful time in the suite. The check-in was basic. I like to have a bit more conversation then just “please sign our no-smoking policy here”. The suite itself was very nice, comfortable and spacious. The bath with air and water jets was relaxing. Only the buttons to turn the jets on and off were not working very well. The dinner was nice, mainly due to the hospitable waiter. Overall, a pleasant stay.
