Very poor experience

The hotel is not at the level of a 4 star hotel and the price is a ripoff. Rooms are small, dark, very noisy as if you were sharing the room with your neighbor. The view is awful: unless you are the lucky one with the canal view, you get either the wall view, or the tram view. Breakfast is not at the level of a 4 stars either: poor quality of the food, very crowded and dark space.. The staff is nice and the location is a good one but don’t go ti this hotel for this price!

3 nights in Amsterdam

We've just returned from a 3 night break to Amsterdam. The hotel is in a great location, on the Amstel and opposite the opera house. Everything is about a 20 minute walk and having the tram stop behind the hotel is a definite plus. Check-in wasn't very efficient- we booked 2 rooms but they were on different floors, we were not given directions to our room and had to go back to reception to ask the way and were given a twin when asked for a double. This was swiftly rectified. As we had booked a superior room we expected a better view but being realistic we did not come to Amsterdam to stay in the room! We returned after a full day out to find the room had not been serviced but assumed it was an oversight - apparently not. Your rooms get serviced every 3 days to be more eco friendly. We should have been told this on check in and this meant your room was not freshened up, bins emptied or coffees etc replenished. I wasn't bothered about fresh sheets or clean towels as we are clean people but this screams cost cutting and not trying to be greener! We slept really well in a comfortable bed and breakfast was excellent- the restaurant staff were really friendly and the variety of breakfast on offer will suit everyone. Don't go with someone you don't know very well - the bathrooms give you very little privacy from noises but saying that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Eden hotel.

Fantastic stay

Great hotel , very clean , huge comfortable bed . The bathroom was ,,,,, unusual ( frosted glass walls and not much in the way of soundproofing ) , but hey that’s just our typically English sensitivities around such things . The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and were also very smartly dressed , after all , this is Amsterdam ! Location- wise , fantastic for walking distance to all major attractions and a five minute walk away from Rembrandt Square with bars, restaurants and coffee shops . Only gripe was the view, if you are expecting a canal view from a Superior room you might end up with a panoramic view of the back of another part of the building but that’s a minor thing if like us, you’re out all day . Would definitely stay again but maybe ask for a room with a view .
